Toros announce new receiver and define their rotation for the final week of the Round Robin

La Romana. – Los Toros del Este revealed this Monday their starting rotation for the last week of the Round Robin, as well as informing the hiring of Puerto Rican catcher Onix Vega, who joins the team for the decisive stretch of the semifinal.

The bullfighting troop will resume action this Tuesday at the Francisco A. Micheli Stadium, when Justin Courtney takes the mound to face the Leones del Escogido. The rotation will continue on Wednesday in a key duel against the Águilas Cibaeñas at the Cibao Stadium, with Jaime Barría as the starter. On Thursday, back at the Corral against the Escogido, the left-hander Enny Romero will take the ball, while on Friday, again at home against the Águilas, Aaron Leasher will start.

The Onix Vega receiver arrives

The general manager of the Toros, Jesús Mejía, announced the incorporation of the Puerto Rican Onix Vega, who arrived in the country this Monday and will be available to debut from this Tuesday. Vega, 26, is recognized for his defense behind the plate, his good “framing” and a reliable arm, as well as showing occasional power and versatility to play in other positions. “We are strengthening the receiving corps for this final stretch with a catcher with good defense and a good arm. We continue to prepare to compete in this postseason stage,” said Mejía. The new mask comes from playing with the Criollos de Caguas in the Puerto Rican league, where he hit three home runs and drove in 11 runs, with an OBP of .341 in 71 at-bats, recording more walks (9) than strikeouts (7). Vega will take the place of receiver Brian Lavastida, who has completed his contractual commitment with the club.
