Huge solar prominences captured on the Sun

Russia’s Solar Astronomy Laboratory reported that the space weather outlook for this week remains favorable, with the Sun relatively quiet and the probability of strong eruptions very low.

Although numerous solar prominences, large structures of plasma suspended in the Sun’s outer atmosphere, have been observed, scientists say they are unlikely to affect Earth because they are located at high latitudes and are not directed toward our planet.
