Archaeologists discover 1,500-year-old mummy in Mongolia wearing Adidas-like footwear

Archaeologists in Mongolia have discovered the mummified remains of a woman of Turkic origin in the Altai Mountains, with the find estimated to be more than 1,500 years old, according to The Siberian Times.
The discovery has drawn attention online not only because of its age, but also because of the woman’s clothing, particularly her footwear. Many social media users have joked that the shoes resemble modern Adidas sneakers, prompting playful speculation that the woman could have been a time traveler.
Archaeologists plan to conduct a detailed analysis of the remains to determine the woman’s exact origins. The excavation also uncovered a chair, reins, horse remains, a clay vase and a wooden trough.
According to ancient beliefs, some of these objects may have been intended to serve the deceased in the afterlife. Researchers hope further examination will provide more information about the woman and the culture to which she belonged.
