Santo Domingo, RD. – The
Dominican Republic Meteorology Institute (Indomet) reported this Wednesday morning that a tropical wave is leaving the national forecast area, while an upper-level trough is beginning to recede. This situation is giving way to a drier and more stable air mass, dominated by a high-pressure system located in the North Atlantic.
As a result, the weather this Wednesday is expected to remain
sunny, hot and with an opaque sky, due to the arrival of particles of
dust from the Sahara desert. However, some
isolated showers could be recorded in towns in the provinces of
Monte Cristi, Puerto Plata, Valverde, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez and Dajabón, as a result of local effects and the influence of the warm and humid wind from the southeast.
For
Thursday, the same conditions will be maintained, with
little rain nationwide and high temperatures. The environment will continue to be
favorable for outdoor activities, although some
short afternoon showers are not ruled out in the same provinces of the northwest and north of the country.
Storm Andrea Downgraded and Poses No Threat
The Indomet also reported that Tropical Storm
Andrea has weakened, becoming a
post-tropical cyclone. It is currently located
1,585 kilometers west of the Azores, moving northeast at a speed of 31 km/h and a minimum central pressure of 1015 millibars. The phenomenon
does not pose a threat to the Dominican Republic due to its location and trajectory.
Caution on the coasts
Regarding maritime conditions, the warning remains in effect for the entire
Caribbean coast and part of the
Atlantic coast, from
Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) to Cabo Cabrón (Samaná), where operators of
small and fragile vessels are advised to remain in port due to
abnormal waves. In the rest of the Atlantic coast, it is advised to navigate with caution, without venturing out to sea.
Local Forecast
In the
National District and the municipalities of
Santo Domingo North, East and West, conditions of
scattered clouds, grayish sky and high temperatures will be maintained during the day.
Temperatures will range between
21 °C and 23 °C in the early hours, and will reach highs of
32 °C to 34 °C at midday and in the afternoon.
