7-year-old boy dies after traffic accident in Sosúa; his father remains in intensive care

Puerto Plata.– A seven-year-old boy lost his life on Monday night while receiving medical attention, after remaining in critical condition due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred last Sunday in the municipality of Sosúa.

The victim was identified as Luis González, who was traveling with his father, José Luis González, known as “Tegui”, on a scooter that collided with a vehicle on the Maranatha-Bella Vista stretch, in front of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) station.

According to the available information, the minor suffered severe traumatic brain injuries that ultimately caused his death.

Meanwhile, his father remains admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private clinic. Doctors reported that he has fractures in an arm and a leg, requiring surgery, while family members and friends have requested blood donors to assist in his treatment.

In another incident recorded in Sosúa, a woman was injured after being struck by a scooter while attempting to board a public transport minibus in front of the Cabarete Medical Center (CMC), located on the municipality’s main road.

The injured woman was identified as Fiordaliza Francisco, a resident of the La Piña sector, in the municipal district of Veragua. After the impact, she was taken to the Ricardo Limardo Provincial Hospital to receive medical assistance.

According to reports, the scooter was being driven by a young man who works as a bartender at an establishment in Cabarete. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the authorities.
