Santiago.- “All I want is for justice to be served. They took him from me as if he had no family. Do not let them go free, sentence them.” With these words, Andrea Heredia, mother of young Joel Heredia, demanded justice this Friday after the coercion measure hearing against two of those accused of her son’s death was postponed for the second time.
The woman offered her statements to the Último Minuto team upon leaving the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the Judicial District of Santiago, where the hearing for the measure was rescheduled for next Wednesday, July 22, prolonging the wait for the victim’s relatives.
Visibly affected, Heredia recalled that Joel was the youngest of the family’s five sons and a native of Villa Altagracia.
He/She assured that the family only hopes that those responsible are convicted according to the law.

The defendants are Eudis Martínez Henríquez, alias “El Pana”, 21, and Anneudy Rafael Cabrera Henríquez, alias “Cocote”, 19, who, along with a 16-year-old adolescent excluded from the process due to being a minor, are identified by the Public Ministry as the alleged perpetrators of the homicide.

According to preliminary investigation, Joel Heredia died after being stabbed in the neck during a violent altercation that occurred at a food business in the Hato Mayor sector, in Santiago, where he worked as a delivery driver.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office requests the imposition of pretrial detention against the two adult defendants, considering that there is sufficient evidence linking them to the crime.
With the new postponement, Joel’s relatives will have to wait several more days to learn the court’s decision, while they reiterate their demand that the case not go unpunished.
