Santo Domingo. The Dominican Republic Army (ERD) reported the detention of 122 Haitian citizens who were in an irregular migratory status, during a series of operations carried out in the provinces of Dajabón and Santiago Rodríguez as part of surveillance efforts in the border zone.
One of the operations was carried out by a motorized patrol from the 10th Infantry Battalion in the vicinity of the El Libertador military post, in Dajabón, where 26 foreigners were intercepted while allegedly attempting to cross the border illegally.
Among those detained in that intervention were 23 men and three women. In addition, the military seized two motorcycles that, according to the authorities, were used to transport the migrants to the border area.

The Army indicated that the rest of the Haitian citizens were located during other patrols carried out in different parts of Dajabón and Santiago Rodríguez, as part of the permanent operations to reinforce migratory control and security along the border line.

The detained foreigners were taken into custody to be handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), the agency responsible for carrying out the corresponding process in accordance with current immigration legislation.
