Army detains 30 Haitians in irregular migratory status during operations in Constanza

Constanza, La Vega.– Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) detained 30 Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory status during patrol and immigration interdiction operations carried out in different sectors of the municipality of Constanza.H

The operations were carried out in the La Culata and El Basurero sectors, as part of surveillance actions aimed at strengthening control in the area and preventing illicit activities.

During the interventions, 29 men and one woman were arrested, all of Haitian nationality, who, according to the authorities, were in the country without the corresponding immigration documentation.

Following their arrest, the foreigners were transferred to a military facility of the Dominican Republic Army, from where they were handed over, under certification, to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the corresponding legal purposes.

The Dominican Republic Army reported that it maintains permanent surveillance and immigration interdiction operations in its area of responsibility, as part of the actions to support the security and immigration control policies implemented by the Dominican State.
