Valverde, D.R.– Patrols of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) detained a group of 49 Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory status during an operation carried out in the municipality of Esperanza, Valverde province.
The intervention was carried out by Army soldiers, who located the group on local roads near the irrigation canal of the Jicomé municipal district, when, according to the institution, they were attempting to evade the Jicomé Joint and Interagency Task Force Checkpoint of the Ministry of Defense.
Of the total number of detainees, 46 are men, two are women, and one is a minor, all without the documentation required to remain in the national territory.
The foreigners were taken into custody to the headquarters of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the ERD, from where they were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the corresponding process, in accordance with the current legal provisions.
