Santiago. – Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) seized two trucks transporting approximately 3,000 acacia wood poles without the corresponding legal documentation, during an operation carried out in the Casabito sector, Santiago province.
The intervention was carried out by soldiers from the Casabito Detachment, who intercepted both vehicles while performing surveillance and control duties in the area.
The first of the seized vehicles is a blue Daihatsu truck, license plate L071788, driven by Juan Carlos Beato Pérez, which was transporting approximately 1,000 acacia poles.
The second vehicle corresponds to a white Isuzu truck, license plate L313128, driven by Rafael García Minaya, who was traveling accompanied by Jesús Alberto. Around 2,000 acacia poles were seized in this unit.
The two trucks, the seized timber, and the three detainees will be placed at the disposal of the National Environmental Protection Service (SENPA), the agency that will continue the corresponding legal proceedings.

The Dominican Republic Army reaffirmed that it will continue to support actions for the protection of natural resources through surveillance and control operations, in coordination with the competent authorities, with the purpose of preventing and combating environmental crimes throughout the national territory.
