Colombia.- The story of “Betty la Fea” continues to make history. The third season of the sequel, titled “Betty la Fea: Más Fea Que Nunca”, will reunite the original cast of the successful Colombian production, in a reunion that is happening for the first time since the soap opera’s premiere in 1999.

The new season will arrive on Prime Video this coming August 28th and will once again feature Ana María Orozco, in the role of Beatriz Pinzón, and Jorge Enrique Abello, as Armando Mendoza.

Joining them will be several of the characters who turned the production into an international phenomenon, including the members of “El Cuartel de las Feas”, as well as figures such as Marcela Valencia, Patricia Fernández, and Hugo Lombardi.

The Ecomoda universe returns

The new story will once again place Betty in Bogota, where she will have to face situations related to her past and Ecomoda, the company that defined a large part of her life.

At this stage, Betty attends the farewell of a former colleague and meets Armando again, who, in addition to having been her partner, continues to be an important figure in her personal and professional history.

The protagonist also goes through significant changes in her life. For the first time, she moves into her own apartment and begins a process of psychological therapy, while trying to reorganize her love life.

The situation becomes complicated when Ecomoda gets involved in a plagiarism scandal and Betty must face new circumstances that will put her relationships to the test.

Furthermore, an old French suitor reappears in her life, creating a new dilemma between the past she shares with Armando and the possibility of starting a different story.

The return of the “Ugly Squad”

One of the biggest attractions of this season will be the reunion of the characters who accompanied Betty during the original production. Also returning will be Marcela Valencia, played by Natalia Ramírez; Patricia Fernández, played by Lorna Cepeda; and the designer Hugo Lombardi, played once again by Julián Arango.

The production will also bring back characters that will awaken the nostalgia of the novel’s followers, including “The Frenchman” and the remembered neighbor Román.

This reunion represents one of the most anticipated events for fans of the Colombian production, who for more than two decades have kept the universe of Betty, Armando, and Ecomoda alive.

A story that conquered the world

The “Betty la Fea” phenomenon transcends Colombia. The original production, released in 1999, achieved wide international distribution and was adapted in different countries.

According to Guinness World Records, “Yo Soy Betty, la Fea” was broadcast in more than 180 countries, dubbed into 15 languages, and had up to 28 international adaptations.

Among the best-known versions is “Ugly Betty”, the American adaptation starring America Ferrera, who received an Emmy Award for her performance.

The sequel has also maintained the impact of the original story. The first season of “Betty la Fea: The Story Continues”, released in 2024, became, according to figures reported by Prime Video, the Latin American title with the highest global audience in the platform’s history and the most-watched production of all time in Colombia on the service.
