The personal care product brand Beau D., based in Malibu, filed legal action against Brad Pitt‘s skincare line for the use of the name Beau Domaine, considering that there is a similarity that could generate commercial confusion. According to information published by AirMail, Beau D. began operations in 2020 with a line of luxury products including a lip balm and a sexual performance cream called “D. Cream” which recites the following on its official page: “Take care of your intimate parts with ‘D. Cream’. Apply it with a gentle massage for maximum hydration, softness, and potency. Our original formula harnesses the virile energy of herbs like dong quai, epimedium, and he shou wu, along with naturally nourishing extracts like coral algae, climbing gourd, and eggplant. ‘D. Cream’ gives you power down there.” Brad Pitt’s brand has a name similar to the company Beau D. The company maintains that the name change made by the actor’s skincare line in 2024 affects the brand’s commercial identity.

The company linked to the artist originally launched its skincare line in 2022 under the name Le Domaine. The project was developed in partnership with a renowned wine-producing family in France and uses ingredients derived from grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, combined with compounds aimed at anti-aging care. Subsequently, the brand changed its name and became Beau Domaine. According to the lawsuit filed by Beau D., the new name maintains similarities to its own registered trademark, which is why they initiated legal action in California. The conflict centers on accusations of alleged “false designation of origin” and unfair competition under the California Business and Professions Code. The plaintiff company claims to have made three prior attempts to reach a private settlement before filing the lawsuit. In addition to seeking damages exceeding $75,000, Beau D. is seeking to have Brad Pitt’s line stop using the name Beau Domaine. The company believes that the use of a similar name may affect the positioning and identification of its products in the market. The brand is asking Brad Pitt for compensation of $75,000. Beau D. was founded by Brandon Palas, a former member of editorial teams linked to publications such as Men’s Vogue and Teen Vogue. Among the brand’s distinctive elements are the humorous advertising approach and the design of its website, which includes a sperm-shaped cursor. The company promotes its “D. Cream” as a product aimed at men’s skincare. According to statements by Palas cited by AirMail, the cream seeks to contribute to collagen production, improve skin appearance, and slow down skin aging. The Beau Domaine line, associated with Brad Pitt, is also linked to the actor’s winemaking environment in France. Pitt owns the Château Miraval vineyard, a property that has also been part of legal proceedings related to his divorce from Angelina Jolie. Beau Domaine products include formulas developed from compounds extracted from grapes and marketed as high-end facial care treatments. Available items include serums and moisturizers. Brad Pitt’s skincare line is made from grapes from his vineyard in France. So far, representatives of Brad Pitt have not issued public statements about the legal process.

For now, the litigation remains ongoing and a date for future hearings or court resolutions related to the lawsuit filed by Beau D. against the Beau Domaine brand has not been reported.
