SANTO DOMINGO.– For the third consecutive day, residents of different sectors of Greater Santo Domingo held pot-banging protests as a form of peaceful demonstration, a protest that has spread throughout the nights in several communities.
Starting at 8:00 p.m. this Wednesday, the sound of pots and pans was heard in areas such as Ensanche Quisqueya, Los Cacicazgos, and Sabana Perdida, where citizens expressed their dissatisfaction through this form of protest.
The mobilizations occur following the death of the young man Darlin Mercado, who was killed by a police officer in the Herrera sector, in Santo Domingo West, an event that has generated demands from different sectors of the population.
In addition, some participants have expressed their rejection of the implementation of the tax reform approved by the Dominican government.

So far, the authorities have not reported any incidents related to these demonstrations, which remain a civic expression with no reported clashes.
