The president of COOPNAMA announced that the institution plans to install 12 new service offices, of which four are in their final stage of preparation to operate and complete 31 provinces and the National District.
Santo Domingo.- The National Cooperative of Multiple Services of Teachers (COOPNAMA) reached its 55th anniversary, sowing well-being in thousands of Dominican families.
During a major event, the directors of the solidarity economy institution reviewed the social impact generated in favor of its more than 200,000 associates.
The president of COOPNAMA, Prof. Santiago Portes, stated that the cooperative is an invaluable asset for the Dominican Republic. During his speech, he detailed the achievements and the social impact of the services and plans promoted by the institution.
“We are not only celebrating numbers, we are celebrating fulfilled dreams and the well-being of the families of the national teaching staff. Let’s support COOPNAMA”, was the call for unity, during Portes’ speech.
Meanwhile, Prof. Alberto Durán, advisor and president of the Anniversary Commission, expressed in his welcoming words that, for more than five decades, COOPNAMA has been the pillar of support, unity, and solidarity for thousands of Dominican families.
For his part, the general manager, Prof. Lucas Figueroa Lapay, pointed out that the teachers’ cooperative is the result of the silent work of its founders and has become a space for mutual support that dignifies the life of each associate.
Meanwhile, lawyer Eufracia Gómez Morillo, president of the National Council of Cooperatives (CONACOOP) and the Confederation of Cooperatives of Latin America and the Caribbean (CCC-CA), highlighted that the true greatness of COOPNAMA is not only measured in pesos, but in the dignity returned to its members.
This celebration served as a stage for various international delegations and cooperatives that joined the celebration of the 55th anniversary to recognize the success of COOPNAMA, awarding distinctions that endorse the leadership and successful trajectory of the institution in the country.
From Colombia, María Consuelo Moreno, Vice-Rector of the Cooperativa University (UCC), through the University Superior Council of the UCC, highlighted COOPNAMA as an exemplary reference, which, for more than 5 decades, has transformed the lives of its associates with a portfolio of excellent services.
Likewise, Iván Otero, representing the League of Cooperatives of Puerto Rico, presented a distinction with the expression: “May the star of Bethlehem continue to guide
COOPNAMA for 55 more years.”
From El Salvador, Alejandro Herrera presented a special plaque, emphasizing that the development of the teachers’ cooperative is the result of planned growth that directly links all members, fulfilling the essence of the principles of cooperativism.
Likewise, the delegation from the Chorotega Cooperative of Honduras, made up of Enrique Núñez and Jorgito Núñez, recognized COOPNAMA on its 55th anniversary. The directors highlighted that the cooperative has been a source of knowledge and inspiration to strengthen cooperativism in their nation.
Distinguished personalities from the national and international cooperative sector, officials from the teaching sector and other portfolios, attended the event, including professors Roberto Fulcar, CEO and founder of the Instituto del futuro; Julito Fulcar, senator of the Republic and president Ad Vitam of Conacoop and Franco de los Santos, general director of INABIMA and president of the teaching current José Francisco Peña Gómez.
