Santiago.- The Director General of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, announced this Tuesday in Santiago that the institution will launch a new preventive patrol model by quadrants and corridors in approximately two months, with the goal of strengthening police presence and improving the quality of service received by citizens throughout the country.
During a visit to this city, the high-ranking official explained that the initiative is part of a strategic plan that seeks to bring the institution closer to the communities, supervise the work of regional and departmental directorates, and maintain direct contact with community leaders to learn about their main concerns regarding security.
During his tour, the police chief traveled to the municipal district of Santiago Oeste, accompanied by the director of the Cibao Central Regional Command of the National Police in Santiago, General Jesús Tejada Tejada, and departmental commanders. He also visited other areas in the northern zone, where he listened to the concerns of community leaders in order to understand how the police treat them.
Cruz Cruz stated that the Police are working to consolidate a proximity model based on respect for human rights, the dignity of individuals, and a professional approach by officers during interventions in the various sectors.

The director general revealed that only the operational planning remains to be concluded to put the vehicular patrolling into operation, after President Luis Abinader authorized the acquisition of the vehicles required to execute the project nationwide.

“We hope that in about two months we will be able to start this patrolling by quadrants and corridors in all sectors of the country”, expressed the major general, highlighting that the transformation seeks to offer a faster and more efficient response to the needs of the population.
The head of the National Police maintained that the institution’s priority is to provide quality service, strengthen citizen trust, and consolidate a police force that is closer, more preventive, and committed to the safety of the communities.
