Higüey.– The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) reported the completion of lighting work on the Higüey–Yuma highway, thereby reaffirming its commitment to public safety, urban development, and the well-being of the communities within its concession area.
Edeeste stated that this work was executed in response to requests made by community representatives, productive sectors, and citizens during the sessions of the “The Government With You” program, an initiative led by President Luis Abinader to directly address the priority needs of the population.
In that sense, by highlighting that this is one of the main access routes to the municipality of Higüey, the electric company indicated that the project had a total investment of RD 8,268,750.00.
Likewise, he detailed that the works covered the section from the Higüey Mural Roundabout to the intersection with the Autovía del Este, to significantly improve visibility and safety conditions for thousands of drivers and pedestrians who travel daily along this important road.

The distributor stated that 126 new poles with their respective LED-type luminaires were installed, in addition to deploying nearly five kilometers of electrical networks to ensure the efficient operation of the lighting system.
Also, he added that other existing luminaires were included in the road corridor and the area currently has more than 130 operational luminaires, which strengthens the lighting of one of the main access points to La Altagracia province. In addition, the work included the assembly of 130 structures, 139 excavations, the installation of 0.16 kilometers of medium-voltage lines, 5 kilometers of low-voltage conductor lines, and 5 transformers.
Edeeste highlighted that this intervention contributes to reducing the risk of traffic accidents, improving the perception of safety during nighttime hours, and strengthening the image of Higüey as one of the main tourist and religious destinations in the country.
The new lighting has been received with satisfaction by residents, merchants, and visitors, who value the positive impact of the work on the mobility and safety of those who use this strategic connection between the city of Higüey and the national road network daily.
Finally, Edeeste reiterated that it will continue to develop electrical infrastructure and public lighting projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the population and supporting the economic and social growth of the communities that make up its service area.
