FEDA announces 100 social events in Santiago during 2026 to boost the rural economy and community well-being

Santiago. – The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) announced this Monday the realization of 100 social and productive days in the province of Santiago during the year 2026, as part of the program “FEDA in your Community”, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the rural economy, expand access to social services and improve the quality of life of hundreds of families. The announcement was made in the Juan Pablo Duarte hall of the Provincial Government, where the FEDA subdirector, Rubén Lulo, along with Frank Cruz, coordinator of the North macro region, reported on the development of the activities agenda. In the act were also present Governor Rosa Santos and Senator Daniel Rivera, who explained that the sessions will take place from this Tuesday, March 17th to November 27th at different points in the province. During a press conference, the authorities explained that the agenda includes interventions in rural communities, municipal districts, and urban and peri-urban sectors of Santiago, including Canca la Piedra, Los Amaceyes, Tamboril, Boca de Licey, Villa Olímpica, Canabacoa, Puñal, Baitoa, Jánico, Sabana Iglesia, Yaque Abajo, Cienfuegos, Pueblo Nuevo, Villa González, and Navarrete, among other demarcations.

Also, Misael Abreu, FEDA’s North regional director, explained that the days will include medical operations, affiliation to the Supérate card and delivery of National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) cards. In addition, the activities include training on the prevention of domestic violence and gender equality, with the support of the Ministry of Women, as well as youth workshops on agricultural entrepreneurship, promotion of family gardens, children’s drawing contests and the donation of agricultural tools and laying hens to promote production in the countryside. The communities will also receive food through the Economic Dining Rooms, vocational guidance provided by the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Training (Infotep), financial advice from the National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Promipyme) and the incorporation of older adults into the solidarity pension program of the National Council for the Elderly (Conape). The initiative also has the support of the Essential Medicines and Central Logistics Support Program (Promese/CAL) and the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers (INAPA), among other state institutions. According to the authorities, the deployment of these days will allow to bring government services closer to communities, identify local needs and strengthen agricultural production, through technical assistance, community organization and linkage with support programs for the agricultural sector.

With this calendar of 100 interventions in Santiago, FEDA seeks to boost the rural economy, strengthen the social fabric and generate greater opportunities for producers and families who depend on the countryside, thus consolidating agricultural development in the province.
