Thousands of people receive social assistance during Propeep events in Azua and San Juan

Pueblo Viejo, Azua.– The Dominican Government, through the Directorate of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (Propeep), carried out social inclusion days “First You” in communities of Azua and San Juan, benefiting thousands of people in vulnerable conditions with medical services, social assistance and delivery of aid.

The activities took place in the municipality of Pueblo Viejo, province of Azua, and in the municipal district of Sabaneta, in San Juan, where dozens of families received free assistance from different institutions of the State.

The Deputy Director of Propeep, Jenny Chaljub, who led the day on behalf of the general director Robert Polanco, highlighted the impact of these operations in favor of the most needy communities. “It fills us with joy to see how communities respond to the call of their authorities so that we can serve them and bring them all the programs that the Government has for you”, he expressed. The official explained that, through these events, citizens have access to medical consultations, dental and ophthalmological services, medication delivery, affiliation to the National Health Insurance (Senasa), and food rations distributed by the Economic Dining Halls.

She also indicated that pregnant women receive baby kits and nutritional supplements, while people with disabilities benefit from wheelchairs, canes, crutches and other support devices.

Chaljub also highlighted that Propeep has managed more than 500 solidarity pensions for the elderly in the last year, so he invited senior citizens to join these assistance programs. The institution’s representative stated that these actions respond to President Luis Abinader’s vision of bringing public policies closer to the most vulnerable people. From his side, the mayor of Pueblo Viejo, Víctor Figuereo, valued the realization of the day and assured that it represents an important support for low-income families in the municipality. During the activity, municipal authorities, community representatives, and leaders of neighborhood councils from the province of Azua were present.
