Santo Domingo.– The presidential hopeful of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Francisco Javier García, confirmed that he will participate in RD Debate, the debate platform organized by the Economic and Social Development Council of Santo Domingo (CODESSD), whose series of meetings with the PLD presidential hopefuls will begin on August 23rd.
The statements were made during an interview on the program El Sol de la Mañana, broadcast on Sol FM on Wednesday, July 1st, where communicator Pedro Jiménez asked García if he would be willing to participate in the CODESSD debates. The candidate revealed that he recently held a meeting with representatives of the entity to learn the details of the initiative.
“Yesterday we had a meeting. They requested a meeting with me and we held it. We told them that we would be very happy to, that they can count on us,” the political leader expressed when referring to the invitation made by the organizing entity.
Francisco Javier positively valued the holding of these types of meetings, highlighting that they constitute an opportunity for citizens to learn about the proposals, ideas, and visions of those who aspire to head the PLD presidential ticket for the 2028 elections.

Likewise, he pointed out that internal debates have a different dynamic than those held between candidates from different political organizations, as they allow for the presentation of proposals on the main national challenges in an environment of respect and exchange of ideas.
“It is important that people focus. Imagine one night for two hours, the PLD aspirants in a debate, not to kill each other, but to tell the country what vision each one has regarding national problems,” he stated.
RD Debate is an initiative promoted by CODESSD with the goal of strengthening democratic culture, promoting the discussion of proposals, and bringing citizens closer to the main topics of national interest. The series of debates for the PLD presidential hopefuls will begin on August 23rd and will feature the participation of the main leaders seeking that organization’s presidential nomination.
El Nuevo Diario will serve as the official newspaper for RD Debate, while Z101 will be the platform’s official radio station and RTVD Canal 4 the official television station, helping to ensure broad coverage of the meetings nationwide.
