Santo Domingo.- The newly elected national Organization secretary of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Gloria Reyes, considered it necessary to establish clear rules to conduct the internal competition that is approaching in the organization ahead of the 2028 elections.
Reyes acknowledged that there are different political positions within the party, but clarified that these differences should not be confused with personal conflicts and that they can be managed through democratic mechanisms.
“It is not a matter of resistance, it is about what naturally occurs in political parties during the struggle for power and space,” he explained during an interview on the program Hoy Mismo.
The ruling party leader maintained that competition is part of the dynamics of any political organization and that the challenge consists of ensuring that differences are processed in an institutional manner.
“Competition is a conflict, only that in a democracy the conflict is resolved in a democratic way,” he stated.
Setting the stage for the primaries
Reyes proposed that the PRM must begin to define the mechanisms that will govern the race for the presidential nomination, taking into account that the primaries are scheduled for next year.
“We are now almost a year away from the primaries to choose our presidential candidates,” he pointed out, considering this an appropriate moment to establish commitments among those who have aspirations.

The new Organization Secretary will have among her duties working with the party’s structures and membership, while the National Internal Elections Commission will be under the direction of Deligne Ascención.
According to Reyes, this distribution will allow the processes linked to the selection of candidacies to be conducted by the corresponding party structure.
Assess support for David Collado
During the interview, Reyes also referred to the support expressed by Eduardo “Yayo” Sanz Lovatón for David Collado for the presidential candidacy.

The PRM leader described Sanz Lovatón’s decision as positive and highlighted the political maturity that, in her view, the announcement reflects.
“I congratulate Yayo’s decision for the political maturity he reflects and the nobility as well,” he expressed.
Reyes also confirmed that he is part of Sanz Lovatón’s political team and that he has participated in the work of building his project over the last two years.
