Boca Chica. – The National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) expanded its school health service network with the inauguration of a new dental module at the Emilio Prud’Homme Educational Center, an initiative that will allow for the provision of specialized and preventive care to nearly 3,000 students in this municipality.
With this new unit, INABIE reaches a total of 65 dental modules installed throughout the national territory, strengthening students’ access to oral health services and contributing to their overall well-being.
The module will provide coverage to 2,919 students belonging to five educational centers in the area. Among the services that will be available are dental prophylaxis or cleaning, fluoride application, fluoride varnish, pit and fissure sealants, oral hygiene education, guidance on proper brushing techniques, and other preventive actions aimed at promoting adequate oral health.
During the inaugural event, the deputy director of INABIE, Luis Valdez, who attended on behalf of the institution’s executive director, Adolfo Pérez, highlighted the impact these spaces have on the quality of life and academic performance of students.

Each oral health module we inaugurate represents an opportunity for thousands of children and young people to have access to dignified, quality care without leaving their communities,” expressed Valdez.
The Emilio Prud’Homme Educational Center, where the unit will operate, has an enrollment of 865 students. In addition, the module will provide services to the Colombina Castro educational centers, with 644 students; Polytechnic Hilda Gutiérrez, with 500; Juan Pablo Duarte, with 755; and Juan Pablo II, with 155 students.
Educational community highlights benefits
Representatives of the educational community positively valued the implementation of the dental module, highlighting the benefits it will provide to both students and their families.
The director of the Emilio Prud’Homme Educational Center, Solanye Castro, stated that the initiative responds to an important need of the school and will facilitate students’ access to timely oral health services.

For his part, Ronaldo Natera, father of a student at the center, pointed out that the service represents an economic relief for many families, as it will allow for monitoring the students’ dental health without incurring additional expenses.
Modern equipment and scheduled care
The new module will operate from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon. Students from the main center will be attended by classrooms, while students from other campuses will receive assistance through a schedule coordinated between the principals of each school and the medical staff.
The unit has modern specialized equipment, including a complete dental chair, dental air compressor, autoclave, cavitron, amalgamator, and X-ray equipment, tools that will allow for providing comprehensive and quality care to students.
The opening of this space is part of the strategic actions promoted by INABIE to strengthen school health and contribute to improving the conditions of the teaching-learning process in the Dominican Republic.
The activity was also attended by the INABIE Director of Health and Nutrition, Luis Lizardo; Deputy Director Milly Pérez; the head of the Department of Student Participation and Services, Santo Gervasio Sánchez; and the Director of Educational District 10-05, Hellen Barreiro.
