Social Development Supérate graduates 300 students from the Gastronomic Advancement Center of Boca Chica

The training is supported by the Toledo, Spain Hospitality and Tourism Association (AHT), as part of a collaboration agreement between both entities. Santo Domingo.- The Supérate Social Development Directorate celebrated the graduation of 300 students from the Supérate Gastronomic Center Supérate (CSGS) of Los Botados, Boca Chica, who successfully completed their training cycle in the areas of hospitality and professional cooking. Gloria Reyes, director of Social Development Supérate, said that these trainings reflect the commitment of the Dominican Government to the development of human talent. “The knowledge acquired by the graduates will allow them not only to improve their living conditions, but also to positively impact their families and their community“. Reyes maintained that the inauguration ceremony is the result of a joint effort between Dominican State institutions and international collaborators to improve the quality of life of vulnerable families in the country, which facilitates a rapid insertion into the labor sector.

“Today is a day of celebration and also of pride, because we are presenting to the country a group of professionals who will give their best wherever they have to contribute, both in their jobs and in their ventures. We want people to know that there are opportunities and that the State is opening the doors to families,” Reyes affirmed.

For his part, Martín Omar, executive chef of the Gastronomic Improvement Center, thanked the Directorate of Social Development and its Directorate of Economic Improvement, as well as the center’s team for the effort made to ensure that professionals with high standards are trained for the tourism and gastronomic sector of the Dominican Republic.

Through the CSGS, participants were able to access comprehensive training in culinary and service specialties such as: Dominican, Mexican, Italian, professional and international cuisine; basic and homemade pastry, bakery, snack preparation, waitering, bartending and customer service. During the day, 50 students received special certificates awarded by the Toledo, Spain Hospitality and Tourism Association (AHT); after completing the training in Administrative and Commercial Management in Food Businesses, taught by the tourism and gastronomy expert, and professor at the AHT School of Tourism, José María Vallejo.

CSGS

It is a project created in 2020 under the management of the Gastronomic Improvement direction, with the purpose of consolidating technical skills with a vocation for hospitality, a tool used to increase the labor inclusion of Dominicans in situations of vulnerability and monetary poverty, which is part of the governmental strategy that aims to satisfy the growing demand of the tourism service sectors in the country.
