The award-winning urban merengue artist Kalimete is back with his new single “From Another Planet,” a musical proposal with deep social content in which the artist uses the contagious rhythm of the güira and the tambora to reflect on realities that affect millions of people around the world. In this song, the star of the company Sueños Records explores a reflective merengue that addresses issues such as racism, migration, economic inequality, and labor discrimination, problems that continue to mark the lives of entire communities in different countries.
With a very emotive lyric and a brilliant video clip produced by Robert Kruz, the popular performer proposes the longing for a different world: “I want to be from another planet where racism doesn’t exist… where money is worthless… where no human being needs a visa to enter”. Through these verses, the artist projects the aspiration for a more just humanity, free of barriers and prejudices.

The artist explained that the theme seeks to generate awareness and empathy. “We are all human beings and no one should be treated as less because of their origin or their language. Hopefully one day we will live in a world where borders do not divide people and where dignity is equal for all,” he added. “From Another Planet” also questions the priorities of the contemporary world, contrasting spending on armaments with the basic needs of millions of people who lack food, housing, and opportunities. In the closing of the song, Kalimete calls for the union of Latin American peoples, mentioning countries from across the region to underscore that, beyond borders, the struggles and hopes are shared.
