Paris.- A large, fully glazed wooden house has been the protagonist at today’s Louis Vuitton men’s show, where the collection for autumn-winter 2026-27 was unveiled on the first day of Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Named Drophaus and designed by Pharrell Williams himself, responsible for the men’s line of the famous French house, inside and out, around it, proposals such as straight suits, hooded jackets and rather wide trousers have been presented, for men who, apart from being well dressed, want to feel comfortable. In the complex of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the work of the recently deceased Canadian architect Frank Gehry (1929-2025), and as a possible nod, for the design housing, to the remembered master, a collection of “slightly retro-futuristic elegance” has paraded, as defined by the firm; something that would seem like a contradiction, but that Williams manages to make it not.

American jackets, crinkled-effect shirts, silk jackets, breathable inner layers or trench coats have been shown, highlighting a dandy and timeless silhouette, imagined to last over the years.

Innovative and Futuristic Fabrics

Pharrell Williams is a lover of futurism, as were Cardin or Courrèges in the 60s of the last century, and it is in the fabrics where the truly innovative of his collection is perceived. With a traditional appearance, the checks, herringbone or houndstooth patterns are the result of the latest technology, and there are those that are reflective and in many cases thermo-adaptive.

Sometimes, both garments and accessories transmit a shiny effect, caused by aluminum threads; and there are even trompe-l’oeil effect proposals. Among the materials, there are classics and precious ones, such as vicuña, which even comes overdyed; mink, silk or ostrich. In the color scheme of Louis Vuitton’s proposals, mention earth, browns, caldera, off-whites, grays and of course the eternal black, among the generous palette.

The Innovative Substitution of Leather

Under the notes of live music, from a large orchestra and choir – something characteristic in the parades of the desired French brand -, the presence of accessories has been a constant, considering that they are at the origin of this house founded in 1854: trunks and suitcases. In the 130th anniversary of the Monogram, that iconic brown canvas stamped on Louis Vuitton has been the big star in bags and garments.

Coinciding with the anniversary, a Monogram Vintage Vernis is also proposed for next autumn-winter, an innovation that replaces the classic leather with suede. As a curiosity, the leather sneakers that accompanied the invitation to the show announced something related to the home. What was difficult to imagine was that inside a gigantic ephemeral space, which resembled a huge wooden box, the design dwelling would be found.
