Man accused of sexual assault escapes from the National District Gender Violence Unit

Santo Domingo.– A man who was being held in preventive detention due to an allegation of suspected sexual assault escaped from the Gender Violence Victim Assistance Unit, located on Rómulo Betancourt Avenue, in the National District, according to sources linked to the investigation confirmed this Tuesday.

The fugitive was identified as Yeison Peguero Encarnación, who was serving a coercive measure consisting of three months of preventive detention while being investigated for a report of sexual assault that occurred in the Gualey sector.

According to the available information, a woman identifies him as the alleged perpetrator of the events that gave rise to the judicial proceedings against him.

So far, the authorities have not reported how the escape occurred or what circumstances allowed the defendant to leave the facilities.
