Santo Domingo.– The Government, through the School Infrastructure Directorate (DIE), is accelerating construction and completion work on dozens of new classrooms in the provinces of El Seibo and La Romana, in addition to the renovation of several educational centers, with the aim of incorporating these spaces into the educational system for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, scheduled for August.
During a supervision tour through various communities in El Seibo, the Director of School Infrastructure, engineer Roberto Herrera, accompanied by technicians from the institution, visited 15 educational centers, where he instructed contractors to accelerate work to complete 66 new classrooms and several renovated schools in the coming days, prior to the start of the next school year.
Likewise, the construction of two sports roofs was supervised, which will impact more than 2,600 students in that province, as part of the actions promoted by the Government to strengthen the national educational infrastructure.
The tour also included La Romana province, where 14 school campuses are being intervened, several of them with expansion processes through the construction of new classrooms, as part of the “Aulas 24/7-365” (24/7-365 Classrooms) Plan, which seeks to expedite the completion and delivery of educational centers.

During the visits, Roberto Herrera held meetings with contractors, local authorities, community and religious leaders, representatives of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), and the Associations of Parents, Mothers, and Friends of the School (APMAE), with whom he evaluated the progress of the work and agreed to prioritize the centers with the highest levels of completion.
The goal, as explained, is to guarantee adequate spaces for students and contribute to closing the classroom gap in the Eastern region and throughout the country.

In El Seibo, the official was accompanied by the provincial governor, Magaly Tabar de Goico, who highlighted the investment allocated by the Government to improve the school infrastructure in that area. Contractors responsible for the works also participated, who committed to completing the projects within the established time and under the required quality standards.
During the day, engineers Iván Castro, regional zonal manager for Yuma; Carlos Lenyn Mateo, provincial manager for El Seibo; architect Jancer Vilorio; and César Guzmán, School Infrastructure supervisors, also participated and presented the progress of the work at the Eloina Constanzo school.
Likewise, Herrera supervised the La Higuera educational center, where 24 new classrooms are being built that will benefit more than 960 students.
In La Romana, the provincial governor, Ivelisse Méndez, and the provincial head of the DIE, Fernando García, participated and reported that the projects for both provinces include the construction of four sports roofs. Among these, the Juan Pablo Duarte roof, located in the Villa Hermosa municipality, is ready for delivery, while the others are in the final phase.
During the extensive supervision tour, the School Infrastructure authorities visited the Leonidas Medina, Gregorio Altagracia, Isabelita, El Rosario, Eloina Constanzo, Gregorio Medina, Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Eugenio Miches, La Gina, and La Higuera educational centers, among others.
Finally, engineer Roberto Herrera reiterated that these works are being carried out throughout the national territory, following the guidelines of President Luis Abinader and under the coordination of the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, with the objective of guaranteeing modern, safe, and adequate classrooms for the Dominican educational community.
