Police officer dies after falling from a public transport bus on the Villa Mella-Yamasá highway

Yamasá, Monte Plata. — A National Police agent died this Friday morning after allegedly falling from a public transport bus that covers the Monte Plata–Santo Domingo route, at kilometer 20 of the Yamasá–Villa Mella highway, in an area corresponding to Santo Domingo Norte.

The deceased was identified as Brandy Girón, an active member of the National Police, residing in the community of Kilometer 20.

According to reports, he served in a police detachment in Villa Mella, belonged to the 148th promotion, graduated last year, and was part of the group of agents currently doing their institutional internship.

According to preliminary versions, the young agent was traveling standing up in the transport unit, a bus belonging to the company ENCHOMIMOPLA, when she would have been ejected through one of the vehicle’s doors, for reasons that have not yet been officially clarified.

Following the incident, she was immediately assisted by people who were at the scene, while personnel from the National Emergency and Security System 9-1-1 provided first aid.

Regarding the vehicle’s driver, identified only as Gilbert, it was reported that both he and the fare collector are detained in the Villa Mella sector for investigation purposes.

The incident is being investigated by the authorities with the aim of clarifying the circumstances of the event and establishing responsibilities in accordance with the law.
