The director, famous for his gory films, presented an eclectic, and even unexpected, selection of films with ‘Toy Story 3‘, directed by Lee Unkrich, in second place on his list.“It maintains the intensity for 2 hours 45 minutes, or however long it lasts, I recently saw it again, my heart beat throughout the film; it grabbed me and didn’t let go, and it had been a while since I had seen it. The directing feat is more than extraordinary,” said Tarantino.

One of the selection rules was to choose a film per director. The third place was awarded to ‘Lost in Translation‘, by Sofia Coppola; the fourth to ‘Dunkirk‘, by Christopher Nolan; and the fifth to ‘There Will Be Blood’, by Paul Thomas Anderson. The rest of the list is occupied by ‘Zodiac‘, by David Fincher, at number 6; followed by ‘Unstoppable‘, by Tony Scott; ‘Mad Max: Fury Road, by George Miller, in eighth place; ‘Shaun of the Dead’, by Edgar Wright in ninth and in tenth ‘Midnight in Paris’ by Woody Allen. Tarantino had previously revealed his selection of the eleventh to twentieth positions, which included directors such as Steven Spielberg, with ‘West Side Story’ in the 20th; ‘Jackass: The Movie’, by Jeff Tremaine, in the thirteenth or “School of Rock”, by Richard Linklater, in the fourteenth.“Those last five minutes ripped my heart out, and I don’t even try to describe the ending, I start crying and choke… It’s simply extraordinary. It’s almost a perfect movie. And we don’t even talk about the great moments of comedy, which don’t stop,” he mentioned about the 2010 toy movie.
