Santo Domingo.– Communicator Ricardo Ripoll reacted through a video posted on his Instagram account, in which he questioned the National Congress regarding the discussion of provisions included in the new Penal Code, which, in his view, could affect freedom of expression and function as a “gag law.”
In her speech, Ripoll stated that the country is going through a moment of social tension and called on legislators to reconsider the measures being debated, warning that they could generate higher levels of discontent among the population.
The communicator maintained that there is an atmosphere of citizen discontent and criticized the handling of the political class, considering that it is not responding to social demands.
“You are playing with the people… you are enemies of the nation, you are enemies of democracy. And here is the people, fed up,” he/she expressed.

Likewise, he warned about the level of social unrest that, in his view, is being experienced in the country and urged Congress to avoid further conflicts with the approval of the questioned provisions.
Ripoll concluded his message by reiterating his personal stance on the situation. “At least I, Ricardo Aguto, Ripol García, Saldaña and Guerra, am willing to do whatever it takes.
