Trump’s proposal on Hezbollah that disrupts Netanyahu’s plans

United States President Donald Trump revealed this Wednesday that the Syrian leader, Ahmad al Sharaa, could assume a central role against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

“He would go in and take care of Hezbollah. And he would do it in a different way. He wouldn’t knock down buildings. He would hate to see buildings knocked down,” he stated in an interview with Fox News.

Trump noted that Al‑Sharaa would be “more precise” than the Israelis against the Shiite group, arguing that “he would like to do it.” In that context, he stated that he is thinking about giving him the green light.

He also referred to a possible withdrawal or what he described as a “repositioning” of Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, indicating that, with Hezbollah present in the south and in parts of the country, “it would be good to get out,” because that way “things could calm down a bit,” insisting that his priority is to focus energy on Iran.

“We have to focus our energy on the big leagues. The big leagues are Iran,” he stressed.

In June, Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement to achieve peace after months of Israeli attacks that the Hebrew country justified with its fight against Hezbollah. Despite this, Israel continues to launch attacks against the country.
