UNADE launches promotion of 144 new medical specialists in 17 areas of medical residencies in military hospitals

Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Defense (MIDE), through the National Defense University “General Juan Pablo Duarte y Díez” (UNADE), held the graduation ceremony for 144 new medical specialists who graduated from the Military University Teaching Hospitals.

According to the details provided to this media outlet, with this new promotion, UNADE strengthens its academic mission in the areas of teaching, research, and outreach by contributing to the country medical specialists committed to science, ethics, a sense of service, human security, and the well-being of the Dominican people.

Likewise, it was reported that the promotion corresponds to the Central Teaching University Hospital of the Armed Forces and the “Dr. Ramón de Lara” FARD Teaching University Military Hospital, institutions that develop their programs under the academic articulation of UNADE and the General Directorate of Medical Residencies and Postgraduate Studies of the MIDE.

During the ceremony, 144 medical specialists were promoted, trained in 17 areas of specialization, including Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Otolaryngology, and Neurosurgery.

When taking the floor, Major General Rafael Vásquez Espínola, ERD, Ph.D., exhorted the new specialists to wear the uniform and the white coat with the solemnity that science demands and with the humility that the patient requires, reminding them that knowledge should never overshadow sensitivity, love, and human compassion.

The ceremony, held in the Independence Hall of the Ministry of Defense, was led by Major General Miguel Ángel Rubio Báez, representing Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, ERD, Minister of Defense, and by Dr. Víctor Atallah Lajam, Minister of Public Health and Social Assistance, among other authorities.
