Santiago.– A 25-year-old woman died this Tuesday morning after being crushed by heavy machinery, a motor grader, in an accident that occurred in the Don Jaime community of this province, while she was on her way to her workday at a free trade zone.
The victim was identified only as Elanny, a resident of the La Piña sector, in the Santiago Oeste municipal district. According to preliminary reports, the young woman was traveling as a passenger on a motorcycle when the tragedy occurred, on a stretch where construction work for the Santiago Monorail is being carried out.
Nelson Vásquez, the motorcycle driver, who was unharmed, reported that the machinery operator allegedly cut them off suddenly, causing the impact. According to his version, the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction at the time of the accident.
Elanny passed away at the scene due to the severe injuries sustained after being struck by the heavy machinery, which caused scenes of grief among family members, coworkers, and community residents.
The incident caused consternation in Don Jaime, where neighbors requested an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident and determine if there was any type of negligence.
