Santiago.– After the case was reported by the media outlet De Último Minuto, Deirison Cabrera, known as “El Gordo,” turned himself in voluntarily to the authorities this Tuesday, confessing to having assaulted a motorcycle taxi driver to rob him of his motorcycle in the town of La Parada Siete, in the Santiago Oeste municipal district.
The surrender took place under the mediation of representatives from a community church. During his statement, Cabrera admitted his responsibility for the act and expressed remorse, asserting that he acted out of necessity and that it is his first time committing a crime.
“Sometimes, when you’re on the street, you don’t think before you act… But I regret what I have done and I want to resolve this,” he expressed.
The young man reported that the motorcycle had not been sold, but rather traded for RD$10,000, even though its owner valued it at about RD$60,000.
Thanks to the information provided, the vehicle was located in the La Mara sector, in La Vega, where it remained hidden in a tire shop.
