La Altagracia. – With a capacity of 1,610 students and adding 46 new classrooms to the Dominican school system, President Luis Abinader inaugurated two schools in Higüey.
The new schools built by the School Infrastructure Directorate (DIE), through the “24/7 Classrooms” Plan, have administrative areas, a library, a nurse’s office, laboratories, guidance offices, a teachers’ lounge, special classrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, and a sports field.
Accompanying President Abinader, the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, who highlighted that each new classroom represents a firm step towards guaranteeing the right to education for all Dominican children and emphasized that this work not only provides infrastructure, but also renews the Government’s commitment to the country’s development through inclusive and quality education.
The school delivery took place in two separate events. The first took place at the Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez school, located in the Villa Cerro sector, which has 28 classrooms and was built with an investment of RD$ 156,656,085.01.
The second act was held at the San Rafael Fe y Alegría educational center, in the Yuma sector, with 11 classrooms and a cost of RD$ 80,067,121.43.
Within the framework of both ceremonies, the Mata Chalupe educational centers were also delivered, with six classrooms and an investment of RD$ 15,774,611.89, and the Initial Level Classroom of the Bejucalito Educational Center, whose construction involved an investment of RD$ 7,265,055.64.
