An ice cream was the death trap for the boy Yostín

Santo Domingo. – What began as a normal afternoon in the Puerto Rico neighborhood of Los Mina turned into a tragedy. Yostín Peralta, a 10-year-old child with a special condition, was kidnapped on Saturday while his mother, Mayelin Peralta, was preparing dinner. Neighbors reported that the child was seen with an ice cream in his hand next to a man, later identified as José Antonio Glass (alias Yoyon), a former convict sentenced in 2009 to 57 years in prison for sexual abuse against a minor, of which he served 15 before being released.

Hours after the abduction, Glass returned to the sector, where he was recognized and handed over to the authorities by outraged residents. The search ended in a heartbreaking way on Sunday, when the Police found the lifeless body of the minor in a wooded area of Sabana Perdida, Santo Domingo Norte. The forensic report revealed that the child suffered sexual assault and fatal blows to the neck. The news has shocked the entire community, which describes Yostín as a beloved child protected by the neighbors. His mother and family demand justice and that the accused not be declared mentally ill. “He knows what he did, he is a rapist and a maniac,” expressed his aunt Saira Feliz. The Scientific Police collected the minor’s belongings at the scene and confirmed that the case will be brought before the Prosecutor’s Office of Santo Domingo Este to request a coercive measure against Glass. In a statement, the Police and the Public Ministry expressed solidarity with the family and assured that an exemplary sanction will be guaranteed for the responsible party.
