“Army detains 50 undocumented Haitians in Dajabón”

Dajabón. As part of the migratory interdiction operations permanently carried out by the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), members of the 10th Infantry Battalion detained 50 Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory status during several interventions carried out in different parts of this border province.

In a first operation, a motorized patrol intercepted 15 undocumented Haitian citizens near the El Vico checkpoint. The group was composed of 12 men and three women.

Subsequently, another ERD patrol located and detained 18 Haitian nationals in the same migratory status. This group was composed of five men, seven women, and six minors.

The detainees were transferred to the La Vigía military detachment, where the corresponding procedures were carried out.

In a third intervention, carried out by soldiers stationed at the El Laurel checkpoint, another 17 Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory status were detained, including seven women.

All detainees were placed under military custody and subsequently handed over to the General Directorate of Migration for the corresponding legal purposes.

The Dominican Republic Army reported that it continues to strengthen surveillance, patrolling, and interdiction efforts in the border zone, as part of actions to combat irregular migration and reinforce national security.
