Azua.– The political leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in the province of Azua, teacher Jorge Antonio De los Santos, valued the inauguration of the Plaza de la Bandera tunnel, a project led by President Luis Abinader, as a significant step forward for the modernization of the country’s road infrastructure.
De los Santos congratulated the president on the commissioning of this infrastructure, considering that it will contribute to improving mobility in Greater Santo Domingo, reducing travel times, and strengthening road connectivity with West Santo Domingo.
“This investment demonstrates the Government’s commitment to the development of modern and efficient infrastructure, aimed at offering concrete solutions to the population’s needs,” stated the political leader.
The tunnel, with a length of 1.2 kilometers and four lanes, has the capacity to move around 2,500 vehicles per hour. The project also features security systems that include fire-fighting equipment, gas extractors, surveillance cameras, and a power plant to ensure its permanent operation.
