Santo Domingo.- The Senatorial Office of the National District reported this Wednesday that the Gadiel Fund, which is usually allocated to social causes, was used in the care, attention, and accompaniment of children and adolescents diagnosed with HIV and AIDS.
According to what Senator Omar Fernández posted on social media, RD$1,059,000 pesos will be dedicated to this cause through the foundation Aid for Aids, an institution that each year provides services to more than 1,000 people with positive diagnoses for the human immunodeficiency virus.You may be interested in: Omar Fernández questions 2026 Budget due to low public investment
“When you look a child in the eyes, you don’t see a diagnosis, you see the future. And sometimes that look becomes judgment, discrimination, as if someone’s worth changes because of a condition… That’s why this month we are allocating funds to support children with this condition,” said Omar Fernández.
The Senatorial Office highlighted that this decision responds to an approach of responsible and transparent use of public resources, prioritizing sectors in a condition of vulnerability and with needs for sustained medical and psychosocial care. It was also emphasized that the initiative seeks to contribute to the strengthening of the national response to HIV, supporting prevention actions, therapeutic accompaniment, and improvement in the quality of life of the affected child and adolescent population.“The correct use of these funds is a way of giving back to the citizenry, placing resources at the service of those who need them most”, the communication points out, while reaffirming the commitment of the Senatorial Office of the National District with policies of a human, inclusive nature and oriented towards collective well-being.
