Santo Domingo.- The Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este (Edeeste) reported that it dismantled an exclusive transformer that had been irregularly installed to supply energy to several properties linked to former Major League player Alfonso Soriano, in the municipality of Quisqueya, province of San Pedro de Macorís. According to the distributor, Soriano had maintained for years two formal residential contracts, which originally corresponded to homes with an electrical consumption in accordance with conventional domestic use.

However, Edeeste pointed out that over time one of the properties was converted into a large mansion, while the other became a commercial building housing a high-energy-demand gym, as well as other premises, without the proper update of the contracts being carried out. The company specified that neither the contractual adaptation was requested nor the interconnection project in medium voltage was processed, requirements established by current electrical regulations, which is why it proceeded to remove the irregular transformer as part of its actions to monitor and control the proper use of the electrical service.
