The project contemplates a pilot plan in the central polygon, identified by INTRANT as having the highest vehicular congestion. The proposal would be developed under a tripartite scheme with schools and parents or guardians, following the model of the National Student Transportation System (TRAE), which already operates in the 31 provinces of the country. Engineer Onésimo González, director of OMSA and TRAE, highlighted that the congestion in the National District represents losses of more than 770 million dollars a year in productive hours and fuel, assuring that this collective school transport would provide security and tranquility to families. Santo Domingo. – The Government, through the Transportation Cabinet and the “RD se Mueve” plan, announced that it will support the implementation of school transportation in private schools in the National District with the aim of improving mobility during school entry and exit times.
The Minister of Public Works and Coordinator of the Transportation Cabinet, Deligne Ascención, socialized the initiative with the Association of Private Educational Institutions (AINEP), headed by its president Wara González, who highlighted the benefits of this service, already applied since 2014 at the American School of Santo Domingo, transporting more than 300 students and reducing traffic in critical areas.
