Santo Domingo.- The review of the coercive measure imposed on the communicator Ángel Martínez gave a new direction to the judicial process he was facing for a complaint of alleged defamation and insult filed by the Santiago businessman Arnulfo Gutiérrez and his family. Martínez was serving a three-month measure that included the use of an electronic shackle and a ban on leaving the country. However, after offering public apologies to both the court and through the media, the plaintiff decided to withdraw the sanctions it had requested as a protection mechanism.

Upon concluding the hearing, Leonel Gutiérrez, brother of the businessman, explained that the decision was made in coherence with the Christian principles that govern the family. He pointed out that, after hearing the communicator’s apologies, they chose to lift the measures imposed during a process that lasted for around eight months due to information that, according to them, lacked support and affected their personal and family environment.

“Today we lift any sanction we promoted against Mr. Ángel Martínez”, he expressed, while expressing his wish that the situation serve as a lesson on responsibility when making public statements without evidence.

On his part, Martinez acknowledged before the court that the data released did not correspond to reality and asked for forgiveness from the Gutierrez family. He stated that he was satisfied with the outcome of the case and valued the gesture assumed by Arnulfo Gutierrez, highlighting that the process should strengthen principles such as truth, justice, and peace. The communicator thanked the decision made and assured that this episode should become a call to act with responsibility and respect in the exercise of communication.
