Barahona.– During the commemoration of National Larimar Day, ethe Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, delivered a speech focused on Dominican identity, the economic value of the stone, and the progress made for its international protection.

One of the most outstanding announcements was the official delivery of the first Certificates of Denomination of Origin, an achievement that, according to the minister, “allows any Dominican, in any country, to proudly affirm that this blue stone is exclusively ours.” Santos also accompanied the delivery of a piece of Larimar to the Canadian ambassador, Yasmin de Lima, which will become part of a museum of high international prestige. “Taking Larimar to world-class museums is to honor our identity and elevate the value of our artisans,” he affirmed. The official concluded by highlighting the Government’s commitment to the sustainable development of the southern region and the responsible industrialization of Larimar.
