Santo Domingo.– The hearing of the judicial process against the former Attorney General of the Republic Jean Alain Rodríguez and other defendants was suspended this Monday, after a medical certificate was presented confirming that one of the defendants is affected by COVID-19.
According to statements made outside the court, the defendant’s health condition prompted the postponement of the hearing to October 12.
“We pray to God to take into consideration the life of this young businessman, as we have had much loss because of that illness,” stated one of the lawyers when reporting on the suspension.

Process continues in the courts
The trial is taking place before the Second Collegiate Court of the National District, which recently rejected requests for the dismissal of criminal proceedings filed by several of the defendants.

Jean Alain Rodríguez and other defendants are facing a trial for alleged acts of administrative corruption during his tenure as head of the Attorney General’s Office. The charges correspond to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and must be determined judicially.
With the postponement announced this Monday, the parties must return to court to continue the hearing of the case on the new date set.
