Trump also said the two countries had made “tremendous progress” and pointed to potential benefits for American farmers. During the same interview, he emphasized the need to strengthen U.S. industrial production and reduce dependence on China in sectors such as steel, medicine and other industries. Asked about a possible sale of U.S. military equipment to China, Trump said the issue was not discussed during his meeting with Xi.
