The legal proceedings began after the complaint filed by the victims’ father, to whom the 15-year-old adolescent recounted the abuse suffered and revealed that the aggressor, taking advantage of the trust given by the family, had also abused her younger sister, 10 years old. Following the report, the victims underwent psychological evaluations and various testimonial, expert, procedural, and documentary tests, which allowed the veracity of the facts to be verified. During the trial, the Public Ministry, represented by prosecutors Ana Basora and Francisco Vicio, presented sufficient evidence that demonstrated the criminal responsibility of the accused for violation of the Dominican Penal Code and Law 136-03, which institutes the Code for the Protection of the Fundamental Rights of Children and Adolescents. The sentence was imposed by the Second Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo Este, composed of judges Josefina Ubiera Guerrero, Yury Cuevas de la Cruz and Isaías R. Martínez. The convicted person must serve the sentence in the Najayo Hombres Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
