Los Angeles.- Singer-songwriter, actress, and philanthropist Dolly Parton died this Tuesday at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer, according to what her team reported to People magazine.
“After bravely facing a short battle with cancer, Dolly departed this earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, surrounded by her loved ones,” the statement noted.
The document does not indicate the type of cancer the ‘Jolene’ singer suffered from, but confirms that she passed away today at the specialized medical center in Nashville, Tennessee.
“Our beloved Dolly Parton dedicated her life and career to bringing joy, laughter, hope, and integrity to everything she touched. Her unparalleled generosity reached the lives of countless people she never met, but she was always willing to help,” the statement said.
“Whether it is through the hundreds of millions of books donated through her invaluable Imagination Library or the funding of research that helped create a life-saving vaccine used around the world, Dolly’s unconditional love for all people was the driving force behind her legacy,” the writing continues.

Parton was admitted to the Nashville hospital on Friday, August 21, where he died four days later.

The singer was hospitalized due to kidney and autoimmune issues, as reported this Tuesday by TMZ magazine, the same day she had acknowledged to People magazine that she was going through complicated moments regarding her health, although she assured that she still had many things to do.
“I am dealing with some health issues that I didn’t pay attention to while I was taking care of Carl“, said the singer, in reference to her late husband Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in March 2025 at the age of 82.
The artist had already given indications of her delicate state in September 2025, when she announced the postponement of a series of concerts scheduled for December at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which were finally canceled months later.
This same situation coincided with her absence from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards ceremony, where she was honored with an honorary Oscar, which she accepted via a pre-recorded video message.
Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, was the first to confirm his death through a video posted on the performer’s Instagram.
Seaver, son of Cassie Parton and the singer’s head of security, spoke on behalf of his family, fulfilling the singer’s own request to make the announcement in that manner.
“It is an honor, an honor mixed with absolute pride and deep sadness. But the sadness is ours, not Dolly’s. Dolly lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, where she will surely be welcomed by Carl, her parents, and so many others who cared for her and longed to meet her in heaven,” said Seaver.
Dolly Parton is considered one of the most relevant country singers in history. She has 11 Grammy Awards and, in addition to her forays into cinema, she was also a philanthropist and businesswoman.
