France.- The artist Amaia Montero reaches her 50th birthday today in the midst of her return to the stage with La Oreja de Van Gogh, the group she returned to 18 years after starting her solo career.

The singer, born in Irun, Gipuzkoa, reaches 50 while participating in the “Tantas cosas que contar” tour, with which she has performed around 15 concerts over the last three months.

In statements offered to EFE on the occasion of her birthday, Montero reflected on the different stages of her life and assured that she is currently satisfied with the moment she is going through.

“At 50, I am happy, and anything that isn’t vital, I don’t give a damn about”, stated the performer.

The artist acknowledged that getting older also implies changes, but maintained that she would not return to previous stages marked, as she explained, by insecurities, disappointments, doubts, and certainties that later changed.

The birthday coincides with a return phase for the singer. Montero returned to La Oreja de Van Gogh almost two decades after leaving the group to develop her solo career.

The current tour began on May 9th in Bilbao and marked her formal return to the stage with the band with which she achieved international projection. During the first concert, the performer spoke to the audience about the personal process she went through before performing live again.

“I thought I would never step on a stage again”, he expressed then, while referring to the difficulties he had faced and the process that allowed him to resume his artistic activity.

From the beginning of the tour, songs like “Rosas”, “20 de enero” and “Cuéntame al oído” have once again become part of the repertoire performed by Montero together with the group.

One day after her birthday, Amaia Montero will return to the stage with a performance scheduled in Valladolid. The Tantas cosas que contar tour schedule also includes concerts in Valencia, A Coruña, Madrid, Zaragoza, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Costa Adeje, Barcelona, Pamplona, and Barakaldo.

The tour will return to Madrid on December 30th before beginning a series of performances in Latin America. Ticket demand has led to the addition of new dates to the schedule, while several of the planned venues have sold out their tickets.

Montero’s return to La Oreja de Van Gogh also includes performances outside of Spain.

Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile are among the destinations announced for the Latin American leg, with shows already reporting sold-out tickets, according to the information released.

The singer’s return came a year after the departure of Leire Martínez, who had taken over as the group’s lead vocalist following Montero’s exit.
