Santo Domingo.- The Collegiate Court of Puerto Plata sentenced a woman to 20 years in prison for killing her partner in the municipality of Altamira, on October 19, 2021, as reported this Monday.

According to the accusation, around 7:45 in the morning of the aforementioned date, while the victim was next to the defendant near a lottery bench located on Elpidio de Jesús Cabrera street corner Duarte, in the municipality of Altamira, Abreu Suero initiated a physical and verbal aggression against his partner, according to a statement from the Public Ministry. The victim, who worked as a security guard at the establishment, did not respond to the violence. Moments later, Abreu Suero took the firearm, a shotgun, that the victim used in his work and, without a word, shot him in the back, hitting him in the occipital region of the head. The wound caused his death instantly. The condemned woman must serve the sentence imposed at the Rafey Women’s Correction and Rehabilitation Center, in the province of Santiago.
