La Romana. A few hours before the official start of the 2026 hurricane season, the Municipal Committee for Prevention, Mitigation and Response (PMR) held a strategic meeting led by Mayor Eduardo Kery Metivier to strengthen preventive actions against possible atmospheric phenomena.

During the meeting, the cleaning of storm drains, the installation of new grates, evacuation routes, shelter conditions, and community training plans were evaluated, with the goal of reducing risks and ensuring a timely response.

The meeting included the participation of representatives from the Civil Defense, the Fire Department, the National Police, the Community Police, the Municipal Police, Intrant, and various departments of the La Romana City Council.
