Samaná.- Despite repeated visits from officials and promises of a solution, the residents of the Los Cacaos community, in the municipality of
Santa Bárbara de Samaná, continue to await the repair of the road section that collapsed several years ago and remains in total abandonment.
According to residents’ testimonies, this deterioration has caused increasing isolation of the area, severely affecting access to health services, education, and transportation of agricultural products.

The situation worsens with each rainy season, when the risk of landslides increases and road insecurity intensifies.
“The road is impassable. The authorities have come, they have promised, but we still don’t see concrete action. We are already tired of empty words,” expressed one of the affected community members.
The inhabitants demand that the central Government and the Ministry of Public Works prioritize this intervention as part of their commitment to the equitable development of the country’s rural areas. The community states that it does not rule out mobilization if this problem is not addressed immediately.
This call adds to a long list of social demands in the province of Samaná, where communities like Los Cacaos continue to be made invisible, despite their contribution to the local productive engine.
